đĸ Cervical Screening Results – Update from September 2025
The NHS is changing how cervical screening results are delivered. Here’s what you need to know:
â How results will be delivered
-
Normal results (routine recall, no referral) → sent via the NHS App first.
-
If the NHS App message is not read within 72 hours, or if you don’t have the app, a letter will be sent as a backup.
-
Abnormal results (where you need to go to colposcopy) → you will still receive a letter.
âšī¸ Important things to know
-
If you use the NHS App to access your GP health record, you may see your result before a letter arrives.
-
Some patients may also see colposcopy appointment details in the NHS App before official letters are delivered.
đ˛ What you can do
-
Download the NHS App: www.nhs.uk/nhs-app
-
Turn on notifications so you don’t miss your result.
-
Don’t worry — if you don’t have the app, or don’t open the message, you’ll still receive your result by post.
